Reunification of the FRG and GDR

On October 3, 1990, the German Democratic Republic joined the Federal Republic of Germany, thus ensuring German reunification. This happened 329 days after the fall of the Berlin Wall. To this day, October 3 is a public holiday in Germany.

Tamagotchi: The virtual pocket pet

In 1997, a small round plastic egg became a cult in just a short time. The Tamagotchi, which represented a virtual chick, conquered the market. In this game, the user had to take care of the needs of an electronic chick. About 20 years later, a new edition of the iconic egg appeared especially for the anniversary.

Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls

Probably no bands shaped the 1990s like the U.S. boy group Backstreet Boys and the British pop girl group Spice Girls. The bands were formed in 1993 and 1994. Their pop songs reached large audiences worldwide and sold millions of records.

What happened at Leuze...

Hanover Fair, SPS & Co.

We look back to 1992, when Leuze shone in all its glory at the Hannover Messe. The picture from that time shows how far ahead we were even then. Our trade show presentation was anything but modest - with state-of-the-art technology at the time, such as the CRT screen, and exhibits that represented the future of the industry.

Contactless communication made easy

Within a network, data is transmitted in different ways. An invisible, contactless and wear-free transmission up to a distance of 300m is possible with optical data transmission light barriers via the medium "air".

In plant engineering, the 1980s and 1990s were characterized by a shift in data transmission and power supply from flexible, service-intensive copper lines to optical devices and permanently installed busbars. Leuze's first optical data transmission devices, the DDLS 78, were state of the art with a transmission rate of 200 bits/s. All control signals for the automatic operation of a stacker crane or transverse transfer car could be transmitted reliably.

From the 1990s onwards, there was a strong trend towards transferring ever greater volumes of data in ever shorter periods of time. Controllers and frequency converters became more and more powerful, and the amount of data required increased rapidly. Then as now, Leuze has always done everything in its power to recognize the challenges faced by customers and to develop suitable solutions for them.

DDLS

Today...

Today's optical data transmission systems, such as the DDLS 500, transmit 100 million bits per second in real time and are state of the art in global plant engineering. Benefits include transparent real-time data transmission and easy mounting and alignment. Worldwide access to all diagnostic data is enabled via integrated connectivity.

Immerse yourself in the world of Sensor People

In the 1990s, the world of print was undeniably an important part of everyday life, as printed media was the main source of information and entertainment.

At that time, millions of tons of paper were consumed for magazines, newspapers and printed brochures.

The intention in publishing the customer magazine has always been the same: to inform our customers. And this intention is still firmly in place. The customer magazine is still a valuable source of information about Leuze and our products.

Sensor Magazine

Today...

In the digital age, we have additionally brought the customer magazine into the virtual space. Not only is it easily accessible and kinder to our environment, but it has also taken on a modern look. Despite the technological changes, however, the essence of our magazine remains the same: to provide our customers with important insights and information.
